Museum MACAN – Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara is Indonesia’s first contemporary art museum, located in the capital city, Jakarta. The word MACAN also translates to “Tiger” in Indonesian, an animal well respected in Indonesian culture. Embracing Indonesia's rich cultural tapestry, the museum serves as a vibrant showcase of local artistic diversity. Its logo symbolizes the institution's core mission, echoing the myriad ethnicities, islands, and artistic traditions that define Indonesia. Each letterform is meticulously crafted on a grid inspired by four distinct cultural art forms across the archipelago. Much like the nation itself, the logo draws from a spectrum of cultural influences, converging to forge a cohesive and inclusive identity.
